KTV stays flexible at national yoga event in Harrogate
Posted in: General Blog,
A few weeks ago we were lucky to have a job that was almost
on our doorstep – not that we got a lie in – when we were at a yoga conference at
Harrogate Convention Centre.
The annual Iyengar Yoga gathering was held this year in celebration
of it being the 100th anniversary of the birth of the founder of the
discipline, BKS Iyengar, and it brought together some of the most senior
teachers of it in the UK.
Iyengar is a purist style of yoga developed in the 1960s. It
has a very meticulous approach and places the emphasis on precision and
alignment focusing on breath control (pranayama) and posture (asana), and is
excellent for building strength and flexibility.
KTV worked very closely with the technical team at the Convention
Centre who installed several viewing screens around the hall along with two
flown projectors and two 85” LED monitors.
We put in three cameras, one of which was mounted with a
HJ40 super telephoto lens for close-ups, and another was a flown remote
controlled Panasonic hothead camera mounted on the lighting truss to offer an alternative
view in case one of the main cameras became obstructed.
Four Rotalight Anova Bi-Colour LED flood lights were also
brought in and these were mounted on the down stage truss to create a soft
light wash across the stage, yet were still able to provide enough light level
for our cameras. In addition these were coupled with LED uplighters to add some
atmosphere to the rollup banners at the rear of the stage.
The reason for all this equipment was that all of the
convention sessions, in excess of 14 hours, were being streamed to the screens
as a live mix as well as being recorded and subsequently uploaded to the
client.
Around 650 yoga
enthusiasts attended the three-day event, and as well as yoga classes there was
also an evening of food, music and dancing on Sunday, plus a market place to
buy the latest yoga clothing and equipment.
All in all a very successful calm and serene three days and
as usual we were dynamic in our approach and flexible to the needs of the
organisers. Flexible, get it?
A couple of days after the event we received this message
from Isabel Jones Fielding, chair events committee IY (UK): “Thank you so much
for the work you’ve done for us on the Harrogate Convention; it really worked
this year on so many levels. Fabulous cameras work and the stage décor, lights
and screens etc all complimented each other. Thanks again for such wonderful
work!” Another job well done; that’s what it’s all about.
The morning after the yoga conference we headed out on the
road from our base in North Yorkshire, firstly to Berwick-upon-Tweed, followed
by Manchester and then onto Southend-on-Sea.
Harrogate is where our heart is but we are a truly UK-wide company.
